CALUMET, Mich. (WLUC) – It’s been a busy weekend for one Calumet enterprise spared by Friday night time’s fireplace.
Tim Bausano, co-owner of Copper World stated he was in mattress when the flames took over lots of the buildings on Fifth St.
“I scrambled away from bed and bought down right here as quick as I might,” stated Bausano. “And once I bought downtown the outdated Evergreen Restaurant was on fireplace and simply continued down the block.”
And though the Calumet Village Council determined at Monday’s assembly to maintain Fifth St. open for visitors, it’s at present closed once more.
“Since yesterday, the road was open,” he stated. “I believe with the investigation they closed it again off in the present day to do their work.”
Since Friday, Bausano stated the telephones have been ringing off the hook with folks checking to see if Copper World is open and to see what the road is like.
“We’re simply very grateful for the firefighters and all of the emergency folks and that they had been in a position to maintain the fireplace contained [to] what it was,” concluded Bausano.
